He graduated from Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He received an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 1963. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Alnylam Pharmaceuticals and Board of Trustees of Duke University.
